Giorgian de Arrascaeta is making steady progress in his recovery from a fractured right clavicle, an injury sustained in the first half of Flamengo’s 1-1 draw against Estudiantes on May 29. Flamengo team doctor Fernando Sassaki shared an update with “Flamengo TV,” the club’s official channel, on Tuesday, expressing optimism about the Uruguayan midfielder’s condition.
“We’re now entering the phase of removing the stitches from Arrascaeta. His recovery has been very positive; he’s already pain-free and undergoing full-time physiotherapy. This is largely due to his commitment, self-care, and the excellent support structure Flamengo provides,” Sassaki stated.
The 31-year-old playmaker is determined to recover in time for the World Cup, where Uruguay (nicknamed La Celeste) will face Saudi Arabia on July 15 in Group H. According to Sassaki, Arrascaeta will undergo another X-ray this week to monitor progress.
“We’ll repeat the radiography this week and continue tracking his evolution. The outlook is great, especially considering the signs he’s shown: a clean wound, no pain, and the ability to perform all movements without difficulty,” the doctor added.
Avoiding specific dates related to the article’s publication, it’s noted that Flamengo will next play away against Vitória at Barradão in Salvador, in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil fifth round. The first leg ended with a 2-1 victory for Flamengo at Maracanã, though Arrascaeta remains sidelined.
