In a vibrant display of athleticism and team spirit, the second Staff Sports Meet of Shandong Port Yantai Port was held on May 10 at the Yantai University Sports Field. The event kicked off with the solemn national anthem and the stirring melody of “Hold High the East,” marking the first major staff sports gathering in Yantai Port’s “15th Five-Year Plan” period.
The sports meet served as both a testament to the port’s commitment to employee well-being and cultural leadership, and a comprehensive review of the workforce’s spirit after six years of integrated reform under Shandong Port Group. The event aimed to strengthen resolve and inspire breakthrough efforts as the port strives to become a world-class facility.
Distinguished guests included Liu Zhongguo, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director, and Chairman of the Trade Union of Shandong Port Group; Yang Zhongjie, Party Secretary and Director of Yantai Customs; Wang Quanzuo, Party Secretary and Director of Yantai Maritime Safety Administration; and Wu Yuchuan, Chairman of Shandong Seamen’s Union. Liu Zhongguo declared the meet open. Chen Haitao, Executive Deputy Chairman of the Yantai Federation of Trade Unions, and Liu Guotian, Party Secretary and Chairman of Shandong Port Yantai Port, delivered addresses. The opening ceremony was presided over by Zhang Jian, member of the Yantai Port Party Committee, Staff Director, and Chairman of the Trade Union. Other attendees included officials from Yantai municipal government, local customs, railway bureaus, border inspection, pilotage, port public security, and Shandong Port Group, as well as retired leaders and representatives of athletes, staff, and families.
In his address, Chen Haitao praised Yantai Port staff for writing a remarkable chapter of leapfrog development through sweat and wisdom. He encouraged them to carry the spirit of tenacity and teamwork from the sports field into their work, playing a vital role in Yantai’s “15th Five-Year Plan” and the construction of a green, low-carbon, high-quality development demonstration city. He urged the port to contribute fully to building a world-class port and Yantai’s high-quality development.
Liu Guotian emphasized that in the critical moment of striving for world-class status, it is essential to maintain high morale and pressure. He called on all staff to integrate the sports spirit of “higher, faster, stronger, and more united” with the port’s dedication, transforming the collaborative spirit of the field into synergy for production and operation breakthroughs. With focused determination, proactive initiative, and all-out effort, he urged them to win the battle for performance improvement and contribute to the high-quality development of Shandong Port and Yantai’s demonstration city construction.
The sports meet featured 21 teams marching in spirited formation, showcasing their unity and competitive drive. Over 52 track and field and fun events took place, with athletes displaying relentless effort and teamwork, demonstrating the port’s ability to overcome challenges and emerge victorious.
After a full day of fierce competition, the second Staff Sports Meet of Yantai Port concluded successfully. The passion and determination on the track will undoubtedly translate into driving force for all staff to pursue breakthroughs and contribute to the “Three Major Constructions” of Shandong Port.
