The recent agreement between Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors on a two-year extension is expected to significantly influence Draymond Green’s future with the team. Reports now indicate that Green is viewed as more inclined to remain in Golden State, given Kerr’s continued leadership as head coach.
The veteran forward holds a $27.7 million player option for the upcoming season, with a June 29 deadline to decide whether to exercise it or become a free agent. There is also the possibility that Green could decline the option and negotiate a new long-term contract with the Warriors that reduces his annual salary while adding additional guaranteed years.
Team sources have reportedly made it clear that Golden State has no intention of letting Green go, whether through trade or free agency. The organization continues to highly value his defensive abilities, leadership, and on-court communication, with Kerr relying on him almost as an extra assistant coach during games.
